Dette er Cowboy. Han står på spisebordet mitt.

Idag forsøkte han å få meg motivert til å ta meg en treningsøkt.

"Hva med en liten yoga-økt, Hanne" sa han entusiastisk, "DET liker du jo så godt! En liten solhilsen, litt Fisk??"

Jeg skulte på han. "Du vet jo det er onsdager, og noen ganger mandager, Cowboy, kan jo ikke overdrive!

Dessuten har jeg ikke yogamatte her hjemme, så det blir vanskelig..."

"Armhevinger da, Hanne, kan du ikke ta noen armhevinger her hjemme på stuegulvet....?"

"Eller noen situps?? Det går jo mot vår og sommer og bikinivær. Må jo starte et sted!" sa Cowboy.

Det ble en litt flau stillhet mellom oss. Jeg var ikke så innmari sikker på om jeg var enig.

"Ok, kompromiss, Cowboy! Jeg setter meg i sofaen og tenker litt på det, deal??"

Cowboy himla med øynene, og kikka vekk. "Jaja, men ikke kom til meg og klag!!"

Det er et av favorittprogrammene mine, og hadde sesongstart etter jul denne mandagen -

2011 har vært et år som har testet meg til mine ytterpunkter. 2011 er et år jeg håper jeg ikke må igjennom en gang til på mange måter, men som på mange andre måter ikke skulle vært foruten. Jeg er takknemlig for alle mine venner, min familie, min omverden, mine kollegaer!

Jeg er ganske så stor fan av noen timer på IKEA; min mann ikke! Så da han ringte meg på jobb for å foreslå at vi tok middagen på den celebre restauranten på nevnte møbelhus, ble jeg mildest talt paff og slo til på flekken (dog var det etter å ha snakka om det dagen før, til masse sukk og stønn og påminnelser om at det ikke er aktuelt)!

Jeg har lengta en god stund på å få ordna opp i Expedit rotet......

.... forferdelig dårlig bilde, tatt med Samsungen, men du får iaff sett rotet!!

Etter en fredagskveld på alle fire med verkende rygg og vaskefille, er vi nå et steg nærmere kosmos i Casa Clarke med hylleinnsatser med skap og skuffer til å gjemme rot i!

I have been quiet with the blogging lately... Life can for sure throw some unexpected events on you and give you some challenges you didnt really thought you had to handle. It is rough times, but only thing to do is find some kind of path through the craziness and keep it going! At some point things are always turning out the way it was supposed to either how... Head high, alot of glory! Best advice I can give anyone out of this experience; Keep your closet free of skeletons and keep your interests where they are supposed to be!

Skeletons can show up when you least expect it too though.. I learn that the other day when I was cleaning up in some boxes I had stored at my Mums attic for a while... Neatly between my doll cloths and barbies.....

.... the remainings of a mouse was hidden...Must have got trapped or killed by plastic intoxication, 'cause she had bitten herself through all the plastic bags in the box. Poor, creepy thing! Except for the head, you can clearly see the anatomy of a mouse skeleton with the tail! We ended up throwing 98% of the things in the box, and decided that my potential daughter deserves new stuff when she grows up - not be a victim of her mothers nostalgia of her kid playing with the toys from her own childhood. Good for her! :D

I hope the summer creeps up on you soon! It came to Oslo yesterday :)

Finding my wedding dress, wasnt a dance on roses. I was supposed to be all economic and buy a dress on Ebay. I found a dress which looked very romantic and elegant, sent in my measures, and waited in anticipation!

I got so disappointed when it arrived - nothing like I had imagined at all!

So I was forced to run out for a panic-hunt-for-dress-shopping, and ended up with

I will forever be thankful and humble for the awesome customer service I was shown at Cecilie Melli's store! As I was in a hurry to get the dress, they couldnt make the exact dress that I wanted, but they had a similar model which I got to adjust after my likings. The waistline was raised and the original model didnt have a train, so they made me a 1 meter train to satisfy me. So greatful!! I highly recommend Cecilie Melli and her staff!!

I loved our dancy wedding. Such a great day!! Can we do it again??

DIY Cross Stitch Pattern

I havent been really sure if I wanted to post this or not, as Im not 100% pleased with the result of it - But since I framed it and hung it on the wall already, I decided to do it either how....

It all started with the usual

cup of coffee- pickup at

the local coffee bar, where I took

this hasty picture of a chalk board

they had written

a pretty clear message on -

It took place in my heart as

I stepped

away with my coffee in my hand.

"So why not make this a cross stitch embroidery?!" She thought, clearly inspired by all the amazingly creative people out there in Bloglandia, and I found this tutorial on how to make a Cross Stitch Pattern in Gimp. Its very easy to follow and Im pleased with the result!! I printed it out in black and white to give it a bigger contrast (I know I could have done that in Gimp, but the printer-solution was easy too.. :D)

This is the pattern: And this is the result:

It looks a little like someone younger than me could have done, and Im not sure if I like the ragged feel of it. I might use a different approach for making a pattern, and do it over... I just have to give it some time to see how it makes me feel.Maybe its the size of it that feels wrong..? It was fun to make it though!!

Rauma and Wool

Mum and me were driving from Kristiansund to Oslo last time we visited my grandmas, and with butterflies and tons of excitement we planned a pit stop at Rauma Wool Wear Factory (Rauma Ullvare Fabrikk) situated deep down at the end of the enormous, breathtaking mountains surrounding Åndalsnes. Its really worth the trip just for the scenery!!

Holding tight to our wallets, rows by rows by rows welcomed us in the outlet store....

First of all hurry book your ticket for next weekend

15 flea markets to visit is gonna make Saturday (April 9th) and Sunday a couple of busy days for me (and you??). Last year the market at Grefsen Skole was more than great, so I will for sure be found there!

May 7th. is the next weekend to book tickets for, as the Awesome and very big market at Ekebergsletta will be held. A must!!! But dont be sad if you cant make it that day, 'cause it will be held again on September 17th. Again, it IS a must!!

SprayPaint

I have been wanting to spray paint this note board for a while, but it couldnt be done inside the apartment and I was a little anxious it has been to cold outside. I have been on Mrs Skjerstads back for a while, as I consider her The Queen of Spray Paint in Bloglandia, asking her continuous if she think I can start spray now as its almost 10'C outside. She encouraged me to go for it and just give it a try. So I did!

Its becoming very springish in Oslo, and today its so nice and sunny! We live on the 5th floor

and the sun hits us from about noon until

it gives us a sunset to watch at

the end of the day. With 20 degrees in

the sun today,

it was a perfect day for my first

spray paint project.

The note board is not gonna

be used for some big revolutionary thing,

only to hang

my ear rings and necklaces on.

I used a banana box as a spray paint cage.
It gets equally as white as
the board itself :)

Mrs Skjerstad was correct about one thing,
and that is that the paint WILL start
running alittle. Have to see what I will
do about the lumps that has developed
on the edges. Maybe I just keep it that way,
or maybe I remove them and
spray paint over it again...
Time will show.

It has now gotten 2 layers of paint!

All I can do now is wait until it get dry

enough for me to start on the next step,

or maybe a new layer.

Right now its resting in the sun with

MrHe's spring jacket, which has been

washed today and ready to be used.

So nice to finally be able

to dry things in the sun,

or even just outside!

Meanwhile they dries up, I sip a cup of tea and enjoy this awesome sunshine, while I send Mrs Skjerstad a big up and thank you for all the advices given to the inpatient She!!

BTW: I LOVE this time of the year!! Hope it has reached you where ever you may be too!!

Red went Black

For my birthday this year I decided to bake cup cakes. I have been looking at the recipe for Red Velvet Cup Cakes for awhile, and saw how nice the cup cakes my girl Åse made turned out. Bright red and lovely! I went to Traktøren to buy the color to add, and I saw they also had black syrup to add, so I ended up buying that instead.

This box contains about two small spoons of syrup,

and gives the dough a really black look!

It look really great in the cupcake liners I bought at Designtorget a while ago,

and together with the white, delicious, creamy icing to die for, it looks kind of rad, dont you think!? And they taste amazing!!

The black color wont only give you and your friends a good laugh with coloring your tongues black, it will give you a pretty craaaaazy experience the day after, an experience I only can laugh at and my husband wont even talk about - I wont post any pictures of that result though ;)

13 & Me

A little while ago we celebrated my moms birthday in Tønsberg, where my brother lives. Knowing that the lovely store 13 was in the area, it had to be payed a visit. My only regret about visiting is that I didnt bought more... I am very happy about the plates that I did take with me.

Cant wait to serve my cookies or waffles or maybe ice cake with it!!

I really recommend paying 13 a visit, a store to get lost in! See you later, 13!!

Weekend Bliss

I've spent this past week on a course in Nursing the Acute and Critically Ill patient, getting alot of new and fresh input and knowledge, eating fruit out of disposable cups. Made me feel like a kid on a Saturday, getting served the portioned weekend-candy.

Every now and again He let his hair out, so He can wash it properly and put in new fresh braids. Sometimes He is letting out the hair before He has made plans for the evening, so all of a sudden he need EB's - Emergency Braids. Then He let She put them in.

Im sure I used to be a Black Mama in an earlier life!! Not only can I stew this and that, I can braid too!! When Im getting old Im moving to Belize and you can find me braiding tourists in the streets ;)

What does a girl do when the husband cant come with her to IKEA to carry all the heavy stuff she wants to get??

She buys an IKEA trolley and deal with it on her own, praying for the wheels to handle the trip through the cities icy streets and tram tracks and on and off the bus.... And it did!!

Now the only problem, is that He will ask She if She cant use the trolley instead of him coming to IKEA....

One went black, One is slow

It had to happen, sooner or later... My newest laptop said farewell the other night... I think it got an depression, 'cause it all of a sudden went all black on me! The computer it self works, but that doesnt help when the screen card felt like life had been long enough.
So now I've dust cleaned my little Shiba, the 8 year old laptop, also living on overtime, with a silly slow working memory card and broken sound card. It is horrible for uploading pictures and its not always agreeing with my WiFi internet. Updating any blog is a long process I really dont have the patient with.

I hope that I will be able to buy a new laptop veery soon, maybe on Monday!? Cross everything you got for me!!

So this is a none- picture- update to tell you that my so longed for couch finally has arrived, and it has a nice orange carpet underneath it and a round white glass center table that goes along with it. Also is all my exclusive art out and about and ready to be hung up any time now. Can you picture it? I love it, though this moving in process is sloooow, but I hope that its all worth it and it will leave me happy for some years!

When the living room is done, next thing is our bedroom. It need a head board for the bed and one of the walls need some flowery, spring/summery feel so I can wake up feeling like Summer every morning.

Well... this is boring with no pictures to show.. really boring!! But as you can see, you have alot of things to look forward to. Kind of silent before the storm kind of feel should be building up inside you, I guess!

Til then, Weekend is here, tulips in the vase, belly full of nice husband-cooked food and tonight will a Flamingo Homeparty will lead us into this nice weekend!!

Wallet (stuffed with money of course....), USB memory card reader, yarn for my next crochet project, 4 different products for my lips (always prepeard... though I seldom use it..), a pocket mirror (INCASE I would use any of the lipsticks), tin box for my tampons and antihistamins, key card for work, my calender with a pen, phone, small little reflex (yes, i know, not much use of it inside the purse...), cardreader for my online bank and finally, my camera.

Phew! So much to drag around, but oh, so nescessary!

Jeg har endelig tatt steget og bestilt sofa....

Valge falt på en Karlstad hjørnesofa i Sivik Mørk Grå fra IKEA. Det skal bli uendelig deilig å få flyttet ordentlig inn, med sofa og bord og teppe og all tingen! ENDELIG skjer det noe!! At vi blir temmelig blakke i en måneds tid får bare være, jeg trenger ikke bruke penger når som jeg har en så herlig sofa på vei hjem til meg!!

Håper bare den kommer før vår bursdags/innflyttingsfest neste helg.... ;)

Oppbevaring Bad

På badet liker jeg at ting er lett tilgjengelig... derfor har toalettpapiret blitt plassert i en kurv og produkter tilpasset "that time of the month" (altså bind og tamponger...) i en kurv med lokk like ved toalettet, begge fra Åhlens. Toalettpapiret og håndklærne har fått en risikabel plassering under vasken, det er jeg smertelig klar over, og holder pusten hver gang noen bruker vasken. Så langt har det gått bra, bank i bordet!!
Armbånd er en ting jeg alltid har syntes har vært vanskelig å oppbevare, men å tre dem på en tørkerullholder fra IKEA er både dekorativt og plassbesparende. I bastkurven er smykker som jeg ikke bruker så ofte, nesten en liten skattekiste jeg titter i av og til. Man glemmer lett hva man har når det blir stæsjet bort - synd men sant!

Vaskemiddel er en ting jeg liker å gjemme vekk. Det blir vel aldri pent med disse udekorative flaskene stående rundtom! Badet vi har nå tillater derimot ikke at de kan settes vekk et sted, pga manglende skapplass.
De har derfor fått en hvit, diskret kurv fra Åhlens (ja, jeg er glad i Åhlens!! :D) hvor de kan være. Det ser unektelig noe bedre og organisert ut, sant vel?

Copycat Wedding Table Deco

When planning our wedding, I was very inspired and had great help by my good friend and coworker behind the blog Kaptein Biff. She decorated her tables with branches, which I think is a great idea.

I didnt want the "usual" flower centerpieces, so with Elises consent I stole the centerpiece idea she used for her wedding with making small trees in glass jars.

I borrowed Norges Jars from Elise to put the branches in. I bought transparent dragonflies for scrapbooking from Clear Cut Crafts on Etsy, and let them rest at the branches of "the trees".

I was a total copycat, and stole Elises napkin ring idea as well. I crocheted about 60 napkin rings, which also worked as seating cards. I think everyone took theirs home with them :D
When choosing the colors it was important for me to have some kind of symbolism. As my husband and I are both from places surrounded by ocean, blue was a clear choice. In a earlier post I showed you the black orchids, decorating the wedding cake - which is the national flower of Belize. So representing Norway, the violet was chosen, as its the color of the Heather, the national flower of Norway - good thing the colors go well together!

Along with the physalis that were spread out on the table for the guests to eat, I was really pleased with how it turned out!

I have to say that without the great MrsKapteinBiff, I wouldnt have been able to make it! We were having the ceremony at the same location as the following dinner and party, so meanwhile we were out taking photos, she organized my friends to set the tables and made the final touch to it all. Dont even know where to start to show my great-fullness!

Felted girly slippers, I love them! Pattern can be found at Ravelry through the search "French Press Felted Slippers". This pattern is meant for thick yarn similar to Eskimo, but I wanted to use Vestlandsgarn, so I had to adjust the pattern a little to get the right size.

A very cute slipper, and a great success under the Christmas tree this year!

Approaching 1 Year

A year ago I felt the sweat pearls start running on my forehead, and the planning of our wedding was approaching its peak.

All the RSVP's had sent us their reply....

The dress I ordered on Ebay had arrived and was too F'ing small....

.... and I ended up with my lovely custom designed Cecilie Melli instead!

The invitations was designed and made and printed and put together as a small little folder, sown together with a heather- colored tread, by yours truly. I am really pleased with how they turned out!! You should click on the images to make them bigger :)

Before I start tell you my little story, let me ask you to tilt your computer if you want to see the pictures correctly. Blogger is for some reason not letting me upload the pictures as they should be. On to the story....

In the middle of the stressful pre-Christmas days, a note from the post office fell into my mailbox. I was thinking "Who is sending me a gift now that I dont know of...? Cant remember I've been THAT good of a girl the last year...?" So oft to the post office I went....

I got home with the package under my arm, and ripped the wrapping off, and it dawned on me... "aaaaaah!! Its my blog lottery gift!!". In the middle of all the planning and funeral and all I had forgotten that I won Maya's (and her elephants that can fly with baloons) blog lottery!!

Inside the package was a beautiful card with a nice personal note,

and it truly made my day!!

The gift I received was this nice, colorful, funny tray from ISAK.

All though I dont look too happy in this picture, I was very pleased and smiled alot when I packed it out. Its brightening up my kitchen, and I dont know if Im able to pack it down when Christmas is over!

I finally arrived home late last night after a long road trip with my sweetness brother from NordMøre til Oslo. Great to be home again, after intense days waiting for my grandpa to get buried. My grandma, which has been in love with her husband her entire life, has been very sad, so it was nice to be there with and for her.

Now Im home again, and looking forward to go back to work tomorrow. Can you believe I have been missing it?! But before that I will go to this years Christmas Party with my coworkers tonight, so I will go get ready now. Meanwhile...

The last time a saw you the alheimerz had wiped away the spark in you, I was the one leading you through the room.. cycle had changed... though I saw you in there, the grandpa that I remember so dearly.

My dear granpa passed away today, not unexpected, still, suddenly.

Oh My Oh My!

Its almost 3 weeks since I posted anything at all at my little She&Life. You might think its because She doesnt have a Life, though the reason is that Life has bummed She out - at least the part of life where She has moved from one rental place to another rental place with a pink cloud around She head filled with thoughts and plans of the wonderful new surroundings She and the He was about to take place in!!

That state of mind lasted for two days....

The acctual moving -stuff- process went as easy as could be, starting with bringing stuff on the tram the 4 stops up to the new neighborhood - me with something on my back and one light box, MrS with at least two boxes (sometimes I feel like Im married to Superman.. mmmm!!). We acctually got to move alot of stuff like that! We simply couldnt sit and look at all the boxes piling up. Because of that we got to move the little rest -like furnitures and things a littlebit too heavy and bulky to bring on the tram- in one and a half carload, thanks to our dear good friends! Then we started to pack out, and then we went to IKEA, and then we had slept our two first nights in the house, and then I started sighing...

The chaos was complete, not finding my "daily-routines" anywhere, looking for things in the boxes that I later relized I already packed out, almost filing for a divorce (almost!!) while hanging up the blinders with MrS, going to IKEA again, just to discover that the cabinet I wanted for my bathroom was sold out and being so hungry while being there, that I forgot half of what I wanted to get... Bah!! I came to the point today, where I decided to hide all the boxes behind closed doors in the bedroom, where all my books will be stored until I can find a bookshelf that I (we..?) like. I dont want to see you in the living room until then, books, you hear me??

Settling into a new home is not easy! I cant understand how we get to fit everything before, in the even smaller appartment!! I do see though, that I (we..) takes small steps towards something looking like our home, that it WILL become the cosy, comfy nest that I picture in my head. I know though, that when we get to buy a house and, say, we have to renovate it, I have to quit my job to be able to handle all the job that needs to be done. I am very impressed by all you people out there, able to handle a job AND renovate at the same time! I feel like I need a vacation just by thinking of it!!

Hands UP for all you Super-Humans out there!!

Life, And How To Live It

Through the latest post at my cousin Eli's book-blog Ellikkens Bokhylle, I came across this amazing picture series called Young Me/Now Me. I find it very calming and a little bit sad, it doesn't take more to make me emotional. I often think about how life evolves when helping my elderly patients, the lifetime they have lived, that I have yet to experience, and the developments they have experienced throughout their lives. Its beautiful, tender and very cool!!

While I was looking through the pictures posted to Young Me/Now Me, I remembered the PostSecret project. PostSecret is a community mail art project, where people mail their secrets anonymously on a homemade postcard. I find this very fascinating, and often thinks about the secret a person can host when watching people walking by. How many different destinies isnt there around us that we dont know about, and never will! That alot of these destinies will be left unspoken, will not be lived out... As nurses, my coworkers and me, are very privileged to be able to take part of alot of strangers life at a very vulnerable place, this makes me feel very humble.

Life is beautiful, huh? The challenge is to open our eyes and see and treasure the things going on around you and be able to take it in. :)

Check out both Young Me/Now Me and PostSecret , and if you want some inspiration for your next book you should check out Eli's blog aswell (will benefit the Norwegian crowd only, but worth a shot!!).

She & The Ring

I pretend not to be superstitious. I pretend not to have any compulsive thoughts. I pretend (and this I do very bad in hiding) not to be emotional.

But: There is one thing in this world that brings out all of these emotions at the same time.

I cant ride my bike without having my wedding ring on my finger. I have this thought that if I wouldnt put it on one day, forget to put it on after work, I will definitely crash! And what if I do crash, and I drop unconscious and cant speak for myself? At least the ring will tell the first aid crew that there is someone in my life that needs to be called and alerted. And the thought of my lovely MrS not to be alerted and being left in the unknown while Im somewhere in a hospital being injured... that almost make me vomit. So I always make sure my ring is on the finger again before I leave work and head off on my bike.

Call me superstitious, call it compulsive thoughts, call me emotional,

it makes me fell safe!

More Fleas

This fall I think I grew up, became an adult (at least thats what my friend Elise's says...). This fall I didnt go to the awesome flea market at Ekebergsletta held twice a year... I bought the much talked about bike helmet instead. Can you imagine, ME making THAT kind of priority?? Im stoked and very much surprised by myself!

Though...Confession: Last weekend was a flea market weekend... These things made it back to my house:

12 beautiful plates to eat some pastries out of when my coffee/cake hungry posses comes over for some gossiping

... while we burn candles, each for every Sunday that will pass before Christmas Eve is here (do people outside Norway have this tradition? I always have to explain what we use this thing for...)

... and a little something to serve the cheese on for the breakfast the morning after, because everyone got wiped out from eating so much cake and had to sleep over.

All of these things will be packed away in boxes now, as we are moving soon (dunno to where yet...) and we dont have any space to store them meanwhile. I plan to start the packing early to beat the stress and rush towards the end.

What will still be out in the open,

is this magazine shelf that I found on Finn.no.

I instantly fell in love with it, and maybe it might calm MrS's frustrations of the growing magazine pile (he's wondering if I plan on filling up the house with magazines... ;D - the answer is: YES! ).

Speaking of MrS; we found a 3-lobsters-for-nothing-deal yesterday, and he is now preparing them as we speak. Smells like garlic and cilantro, and I think I have to go out in the kitchen and have a look at the masterchef!

Better Safe Than Sorry, Really!

When I was a kid, wearing a helmet while biking was the dorkiest thing EVER! If you were wise enough, or lucky enough of having strict parents that forced you to wear the helmet, you were definitely not one of the cool gang... at all!!

This feeling has been growing with me ever since. I have been riding my bike this whole season without a helmet trying to concur this stupid, childish thought. In my work as a nurse at a orthopedic ward I see what crashing with a bike can do to you, and we always say "good thing he was wearing a helmet". So yesterday, when I was passing the bike store on my way home, my body all of a sudden decided to park the bike and walk in!

Now Im the proud owner of a Birk Helmet and I promise to wear it!!

I regret that I didnt buy more at this lovely market, especially some bowls and plates and the yellow tea set. This market was awesome and never ending, and of course had alot of bullshit - but who cares! We love flea markets huh??

and you can buy different kind of films with different kinds of effects. I love it!! Im running around like a maniac trying to see people who does fun stuff so I can capture them in action! I only have a few pictures left now before I can develop (yes, 'cause the film has to be developed!! wheee!) my first film of Lomography, and get the envelope in my hands and open it with childlike enthusiasm to see the result. Cant wait!!

Get It Organized Already!

I have been playing with wallpaper glue again......This time its my ring binders that has undergone a make over.

I expect most of you people out there know the Swedish design concept Ordning & Reda, which has stores in the biggest cities in Norway. Here you can buy binder, albums and whatever you need to organize and write down your thoughts. They have these fabric ring binders, which is very appealing to my eye, but not to my wallet. So I was thinking, Why Dont You Just Go Down to Grønland (neighborhood in Oslo where there is alot of foreign stores, some selling cheap fabrics) , Buy Some Fabrics And Do It Yourself!?

And so I did!

Even tough it took me about a month from I bought what I needed til I actually went through with it, and MrS went crazy and ballistic about the plastic bags that I left everywhere, (Hey! MrS!! Listen, its hard to be organized and steady when we live in this little chamber of a house, it will (hopefully) get better!! Love ya!) we are now very happy about the outcome of our new ring binders!! My friend wallpaper glue and I has been enjoying working together again, and we love the Japanese inspired fabrics we found at a very low price!

Now the boring, boring, boring job is left!

There is a huge pile of documents that would like
to be organized and take place in their new homes!
But boy! It will help alot of the cosy home feeling to
get all of it stuffed away! Its a sickness of mine to let
them all float, and from living alone for a bunch of years
to now sharing a home with a husband, it forces me

It then, starts to rain!! So instead of swimming in the sea, you will go swimming back into your clothes, which you didnt bring enough off in the first place, since the sun was suppose to keep you warm. Now you end up cold and in bed with pneumonia instead...

And so goes the days basically! Of Course, we have the long sunny days too, those days that feels like it will never end, that makes me believe that rain and winter never will come back, the never ending days of summer, but sadly enough, it is far between them. All of this gambling, is making me stressed out! I feel obliged to hit the sun as soon as it shows its rays, and as you know, its not always you want to stay outside. Im sometimes relieved, wakening up to them cloudy days that doesnt leave me a choice. It would for sure be easier to enjoy the summer if it actually lasted longer than a few hours - You hear me, Summer!?!

My vacation starts in a few weeks, going for somewhere hot and nice to get a load of Vitamin D stock up. Then I am ready to come home and greet the fall welcome. It tends to be sunnier days during September, though it wont leave me with the possibility to wear a bikini and bathe and so one, but it will leave me with a take away cup with coffee and some strolls in the beautiful fall surroundings.

You had your shot, Summer, better luck next year! I give up!

Gifts have been raining down on our rasta-family-friends The Rubios lately, only because I love the color combination of sharp red-yellow-green with black. So much fun!!

First out was this rattle, which as a green stripe at the back of the handle - the top one is the one I gave away, the other one looks to scary and it is still hiding in my yarn- basket. It wont ever reach a kids hand :D

Second one out was Papa Rasta. I knit this rasta tubehat for him.

Last one out was YoungLittleRubio. I was visiting them today, and MrRasta here on the pictures has been waiting along time to be handed over to LittleRubios hands. It was a successful first meeting! I know MrRasta is in good hands, though he was shaken alot and fell over everywhere. I know he will get a nice life in his new home :)

The temperature is slowly sliding past 20'C, its ten o'clock, MrS makes breakfast. I am dreaming of spending my day eithere here (my lovely grandparents farm by the sea.. was there a little week ago.. more pictures to come)...

...or here at my uncles family cabin only a few steps from the sea... (A delightful place on earth where the time stands still and gives you only chances of recharging the batteries. Had some lovely days there this week!! Cant wait til next summer comes!)....

....rather then here.... where I will spend this lovely sunny evening...

Orchids I Love

There's a few things that make me more excited than when my orchids start to blossom again! I got two of them, and sometimes I think the man of the house thinks they get more love than him (its not true of course....;) ).

I bring the two of them into the shower, of course together... all siblings like to bathe together when they're young... where they are given a real, nice, lush shower, duplicating the exotic rainforrest rain. And now, it looks like they give me some blossoming in return!!

The oldest one, has started to grow a new branch. These pictures was shot with maybe a month apart, and you can clearly see it has grown alot!! (the smallest of the leaves that is)

The youngest one, the one MrS gave me for my birthday this year, which blossomed from March throughout May, has now also grown a new sprout AND has begin to blossom again! Im excited to see where this is gonna end!

Fortunately for me, the national flower of MrS' home country is the black orchid. For our wedding I wanted to mix our nations in the decorations, so the black orchid got to carry the pride of our (homemade by the bride and her mother) wedding cake.

I was searching high and low on the internet for an affordable confectioner. I came a cross Elins Designkaker. She made me the most beautiful sugar paste orchids!!

Though the cake looked very homemade, the orchids makes it look somewhat better, and for the record - my mocha fromage chocolate cake with white chocolate icing was deeeeelicious!!!

My Second Hand Treasures

Already at age 15, I've been searching second hand stores for goodies. It all began with clothes to match the grunge style that raved at that time. I had a SaturdayNight Fever/Nirvana- crossover style with shirts with crazy pattern, flare leg pants and for some reason a coat that would make your great- granpa jealous - and of course, Doc Martens.
My love for second hand clothes still follows me, only these days its mainly for dresses - which is a terribly long story of disaster makeovers.... and also alot of wonderful ones! How I love my dresses! Ebay is my online- playground, a dangerous one! Its so easy to get carried away in an auction, and what a thrill when you end up with a wonderful new dress! Love it!

But there's a bigger obsession that has grown on me the recent years (it all started 10 years ago, but it FEELS recently.....) - Interiors! Oh How I love flea markets and second hand stores!! I can stay there forever and hopefully don't spend too much money. Im very persistent on not buying things that is overpriced, and I really have to like it to buy it (most of the time)!

Well, lets get to it! I want to give you a tour of what I consider my best buys, the items that will follow me where ever I move:

Its not bad to come home after a strenuous week at work, when I have such a lovely husband! Food ready, house steady and flowers waiting for the wife.

I Heart My Breadbox!

The bread in our house was usually stored in a plastic bag on the kitchen counter. It was plastic bags everywhere it seemed. I was starting to wonder if it wouldnt be nice to get a box for the bread instead, to hide it from my eyesight. I was first hoovering the hardware stores for the new, modern breadboxes. Though non of them appealed to me. So I was searching finn.no, the markets, flea markets and telling my friends to look for one. But no results...

Until I found this wooden one at Marita Stiftelsens store in Markveien costing a couple of pennies

On my way home I picked up some white paint, washed the breadbox and let it out for drying a couple of days, before I started the paint work.

After two days of drying it is time for the finishing touch,

and this was a little pain in the ass, to be frank, but Im very pleased with the result!

Now its a pleasure to take out the bread and cut myself a slice. It looks so tidy and neat on the counter.
